DAT 601: Realtime – Final Product, Conclusion and Evaluation

As part of the ongoing process that is real-time and completing the task of ‘collecting the invisible’, the most significant factor was to present the work. The title of the group project was called Delta Sierra, as it can be identified as call signs during military/strategic operations. The video below demonstrates the implementation of the groups efforts to achieve the brief criterion and displays how the location added to the immersive experience that was created though the project itself.

The culmination of all aspects contained within this project, ranging from; interactive components and case files to aesthetic props, all complimented one another in a cohesive manor. The drone footage that was used in the video illustrated exactly what we needed it to. This was particularly  apparent with the impact of dropping weapons on a nation and repercussion thereafter – visible through each selected reports.

The process involved to ‘collect the invisible’ was certainly achieved. I believe that in order to make the presentation better: displaying the map without using google maps would need to be a necessity, as the customization for the information tab was some what antiquated. Another topic to consider would be that of demonstrating further instances of drone involvement – not in the physical sense of weapon usage, but surveillance (intelligence) is also a major issue on privacy infringement and an factor that was less highlight by the group.

If I was to add anything else to the project (regarding my own input), it would have been to help implement the functionality of the HUD display. I believe that this is where the functionality could have been exploited further to gain a greater, reactive interface. To add, the feedback from the university lecturers have indicated that a strong sense of emotion was felt through engaging with our project. That it was almost hard believe that the actions of nation had these consequences as they are seemingly (for the most part) kept out of the public eye. It was apparent that the location had enhanced the projects impact, and in addition, collecting the invisible was evident through constructive feedback. I believe that the project has been a complete success.
